So what is left when you take away
your thoughts?
Let's try it and see what happens.
You game? Cool! Let's do it!
First let's set the stage a little bit.
Our minds are thought-making machines...
....which is fine, there's no problems there.
That's its job.
However, when we rely on our thoughts
to tell us who we are and what we believe,
well, that is when issues, including anxiety,
can arise. We feel as if we are separate from
all in the world.
So let's first become aware of how we label
and judge all things......imagine this....you walk
into a social gathering and here are some
examples of a few thoughts that may surface
in your mind:
wow, this place is nice......this guy must be
loaded.......look at that outfit.........yikes...
I wouldn't be caught dead in that......he's
so cute.......she's really pretty......and she knows
it too.......hmm, I wonder who made this food....
this drink is good........the color of those
curtains are atrocious.....he has way too much
going on here......talk about cluttered.....that
guy is not as cute as I thought he was......I
should go talk to that person over there....
nah, I'll just avoid her......wow, she got
so fat...........look at her flirting over there....
she actually looks really good.......she lost
weight........my belly feels huge right now....
maybe I should leave soon.....
Anxiety Busting Tip:
I invite you not to judge or label anything for
5 seconds..........you game? you
ready? ok!
Here's what to do:
Look around you and notice your physical
surroundings.
Notice without adding any thoughts to
what's around you. Don't name it, don't
label it, don't make a judgment about it.
Just notice.
Really use your sense of sight to 'see' here.
You may even see something you never
have seen before.
Explore your surroundings for 5 seconds...
ready.....I'm doing it too........go!
1....2....3.....4....5....
You did it!
After those few seconds, take a nice deep
belly breath and notice how you are feeling
and if you notice anything different in yourself.
Was it difficult? Did a thought pop in?
Did you feel any stillness within yourself?
I invite you to try it again........maybe
even for 10 seconds this time..........

What did you discover is there
when your thoughts aren't?
