Have you ever tried to quit the sugar habit?
There's not too many things I'd quit on, but sugar is an exception.
Dr. Oz says the average person consumes 150 pounds of sugar in a year................holy moly! He said compared to what the average person consumed back in the year 1700 (which was 7.5 pounds), our yearly consumption of sugar has multiplied by 20 times! That is pretty crazy.
Why do we eat so much sugar when we know it's not good for us?
I asked myself this question not too long ago. And the answer recently started me on a journey to kick the sugar habit. As I'm writing this post, it's been 5 days and it's been pretty hard (but not as hard as when I tried in the past - more on this in Part 2).
After starting this journey, right away I realized how I would give myself permission to eat some kind of junk food at night since I ate good the rest of the day. I also noticed how I'd convince myself that the junk food I was eating (recently it's been Smart Puffs), is actually 'not that bad of a junk food'..........here's what went through my head - 'OMG I can't believe the bullshit I was telling myself! Cheese puffs, no matter who makes them or how they're made, are junk food - I do not gain any health benefits from eating them.'
Now I do realize that the occasional junk food snacking is fine and we are meant to enjoy what we eat. But if it becomes an addiction - something that you cannot stop yourself from eating - then that's when......
