Anxiety can cause us to not only feel scattered-brained and unfocused, but it can also make us overwhelmed when we think about all the stuff we need and want to get done.
So what is one thing I love to do to break up the brain-fog & overwhelmedness (yes, just made that word up, lol)?
You guessed it......DANCE!!!
There's nothing like putting on a song that you absolutely love and that you can't help groovin' to......it's a total uplifter and mood shifter!
Some of the artists whose songs I love to boogie down to are:
- Rihanna
- Pitbull
- Michael Jackson
- Usher
-
J-Lo
- Bruno Mars
- and lots more
Dancing stops the mindchatter in its tracks and brings you right into the present moment.
And the way I get into the habit of taking a mid-day dance break is by setting an alarm on my iPhone that goes off telling me - hey, it's time to boogie!
You need to have a way to help yourself remember to take breaks.
And when you take a dance break (or breathing break or walking break or whatever it is you love to do), it actually helps you to focus better when you come back to the tasks you need to get done.
We get so caught up in what we're doing sometimes, that we need reminders to remind us to stop, take a breather, slow down, have a healthy snack and to just stop and notice how we feel and notice where we are and just BE.
In other words, to remember to enjoy life - to do what it is that we love to do. Just because we are adults, doesn't mean we can't have some play time.
I highly recommend the mid-day dance break - will you give it a try?
I'll meet ya on the dance floor!
Oh, and if you want to share some of your favorite artists/tunes to boogie down to that you think I should have a listen to, hit reply and let me know!
