As I was thinking about how I'd create the aromatherapy class I'll be guiding, a memory surfaced about my first glimpse into the world of aromatherapy.
It was a chance meeting of me and a book.
My husband and I were on one of our roadtrips we planned to the state of Connecticut back in 1997. We used to love taking roadtrips and stay in bed and breakfasts.
We happend to be walking around the town of New Milford Connecticut, and we discovered this little quaint bookstore. We loved roaming around these kinds of bookstores (such a rarity now!) so we walked in and started perusing around the store.
I remember walking around looking at all the books and other kinds of gifts they had for sale. Then I walked up the stairs to the second level and was drawn to the back corner of the store.
As I reached that corner, I looked up and a book seemed to pop out to me. Before I realized it, I was reaching up to grab it. The book was called, The Essential Oils Book.
I must have been reading it for quite a while because my husband had to come and find me, lol.
I couldn't put the book down so I decided to purchase it. I never really heard of essential oils before but I was immediately drawn to all this info about them and couldn't wait to dive in deep into this book.
Then I remember coming home from that trip and sitting on my bed with my new precious find and a brand new notebook (ahh, aren't they the best!) and started to read and takes notes on every single chapter.
I still have those notes.....and that book.
Little did I know what an impact this little book and the world of essential oils would have in my life - especially since I was also knee deep in anxiety attacks at that time.
Then the next thing I did just blew my mind.....I went to the store and inhaled Lavender essential oil. (after reading about these oils, I had to go and have a sniff!)
OMG, I felt instant calm. I was astonished how this little bottle of liquid made me feel.
And that's why I believe aromatherapy is a vital component that needs to be a part of everyone's Anxiety Relief Toolkit.
And thus a passion was ignited and I've been using essential oils daily ever since - that's over 16 years....holy cow!
And that is the story of my first glimpse into the world of aromatherapy and the rest is, as they say, history.
