Hola ,
I'm in need of a nice deep breath....wanna join me?.......ready......let's *Breathe*.......ahhhh!
I had a crazy weekend......not crazy as in wild, just busy. It all started with Arrow getting skunked - so Friday morning was spent de-skunking him. It was quite an experience I must say and a very 'aroma-full' one for sure!
It was a learning experience though. When I went to deskunk Arrow for the first time, he wouldn't let me. He kept running away from me. So I just kept calmly following him until he kind of got trapped in the foyer. He then just plopped on his bed we have there for him so he can look out the front door, and he totally surrendered.
I told him I would never
hurt him and that all is ok, I just need to get the smelly smell off of you. So from that point, he let me wash him - the whole 6 times that I had to wash him throughout that morning (he saw me coming with the wash cloth and just plopped down and let me do my thing). Animals are just amazing teachers. He resisted for the shortest amount of time, and then fully accepted the situation and let me do what I had to do. He was so good. What little gurus our animals are!
It was also my mom's birthday and she and my stepdad came down for the weekend. I took them out for lunch and we had a great time, including a big belly laugh where I could hardly breathe (my mom does things that just cracks my family up so bad - cute stuff, so funny - it makes her, her).........then Saturday night I had people over and then a bridal
shower on Sunday.....busy busy weekend, but a fun weekend as well.
Then of course Sunday night my mind starting spewing out thoughts such as, 'you didn't get anything done this weekend, you have so much to do, you're so behind, you didn't get to work on that new idea that surfaced,' and so on and so on. It made me go from a really positive energy of a great weekend full of connecting with great people, to a negative energy of
what felt like 'the blahs.'
It didn't take long for me to become aware of those stories - the stories that the ego-mind loves to churn out. And the next thing I did helped me to not stress over the fact that I had a lot to do and actually put me quite at ease and not sweat it at all.

Spotlight Article: How to Quickly Create a Positive Energy Shift

Have you ever come across something you really wanted to try or had an amazing idea come to you that you got really excited about? And then you thought about all the good stuff that could come from your great idea as well as how it will feel having finally done that thing you've always wanted to do? But somewhere between that insight surfacing and your
thinking about the outcome, something happens that squashes your great idea and insight as well as that surge of positive energy flowing through your body.
That something is the mind - it comes in and starts chatting about how you can't do it or you don't know enough or that it will take too darn long.
And if you aren't aware of the energy shift that occurs when the mind squashes your idea, you'll listen to those negative voices and not even attempt that great thing you wanted to try or put that wonderful idea that came to you into action. And you end up being in a grumpy mood, wondering where all that positive energy went, not realizing it was the mind that hijacked you.
And not only will you not get to experience the thrill of bringing your idea to life, but neither will anyone else that could have benefited from your idea as well.

Try on a new vantage point for anxiety.
When we experience anxiety, it tends to bring about a force of constriction - our bodies tighten, our jaw may clench down, our shoulders may scrunch up
toward our ears and we may hunch over.
In short, it makes us feel more like crunching up into a ball and hiding or it can make us take on more nervous actions like pacing quickly back and forth or biting our nails or rocking our body.
This is one way we can experience anxiety. But what if we chose to experience it in another way?
And how would we do that?
You do that by changing your vantage point.
Your normal vantage point may be to go to your room or in your bed or in child's pose like I used to do when my heart used to race a mile a minute during an anxiety attack.
So what you would do instead is change your normal vantage point. For instance instead of going to your room, go outside - instead of heading for your bed,
head for your yoga mat - instead of sporting child's pose, sport a more open pose like triangle pose.
A new vantage point will give you a new perspective and it will change your perspective in that moment you are experiencing anxiety.
And that's the key - to reroute and focus on a new way of being with anxiety and seeing it and
feeling it in a new light. And all those new vantage points I spoke of are more expansive.
If you can come into more expansive states when anxiety hits, the faster you will move through anxiety and come into a more peaceful state. Give it a try - it works!
