Spotlight Article: Be A Positive Action Taker
|
|
I'm sure you've heard countless times before that you won't get to where you want to be without taking action. Have you heard that one before? Well, there's a good reason why you've heard that many times from a variety of different people. It's because it's true. Let's take a closer look....... It may have seemed like an actor became an overnight success because he/she got a lead role in a starring film. But what we don't know is it took over 2 decades for that actor to get to the point of being offered that role - same goes for singers as well. We think they come out of no where but most of them have put in their dues with hard work, diligence, fortitude and the persistence of being a positive action taker. Take Bruce Springsteen. He started getting into music when he was 7 years old. At age 13 his mom bought him his first guitar. He signed a record deal in 1972, but his couple album releases did not bring much success. Then in 1975 he released his hit, Born To Run. He finally had......click here to read more

ANXIETY BUSTING TIP Enjoy each moment..... |
|
Enjoy each moment......
The weekend is upon us, and I'd love to give you a little task to reflect on before it really starts.
Can you reflect on what it would be like to enjoy each and every moment this weekend? What would be different? How would things change? How do you think you'd feel?
I'd bet you'd feel a lot less anxiety and stress.
That's because when we live in each moment, there's
less space for anxiety and stress to creep in. That space is taken up with our presence and our aliveness - and that's a hard place for anxiety to exist.
So will you try it? How will you remember? Can you set an alarm on your smart phone to go off each hour as a reminder?
Try it and see what happens......notice how your experience is different from another normal weekend.......notice how you connect with people when you are present and living fully in each moment.
And
please feel free to share how it went.............enjoy!

The Santuary at Companion Canines ~a forever home for the unadoptable
|
Two friends (they are sisters) from Companion Canines are looking for help with sponsoring dogs that are not adoptable but will have a forever home with them. I'm sponsoring Easter - just look at her sweet pic below......keep reading to learn more.
Here is what the Sanctuary at Companion Canines is all
about:
Companion Canines specializes in adult, senior, and hard-to-place dogs. Most people prefer young dogs and some people are also not willing to take on a dog that is anything other than your "out-of-the-box-perfect" dog, so finding loving homes for these dogs is extremely difficult, and sometimes just not possible. The dogs for whom adoption is not an option, we provide lifelong sanctuary so they will never have to worry about being abused, neglected, cold,
hungry, or abandoned ever again. The majority of our dogs are "sanctuary" dogs and for most, adoption is not an option due to age, medical conditions, issues due to past abuse and/or neglect, etc... The costs associated with supporting these dogs is extremely high; vet bills, food, basic necessities, etc..., and with no adoption fees to help offset these costs, we struggle every day to continue our work and give these dogs a loving home for the rest of their lives.
We are desperately seeking donations, whether it's one-time, monthly, or whenever possible, to help support the dogs here at Companion Canines. We are a 501C3, so all donations are tax-deductible. www.companioncanines.org

Easter's Story
|
It was Easter Sunday, I had stopped at a supermarket for some last minute items when I noticed a dog trying desperately to get into the store. A lady in the parking lot told me that someone had dropped the dog off with a puppy and left. She said a group of people then came and took the puppy but left the momma. So we had an unexpected guest
for dinner! Sweet, affectionate, and good-natured, Easter went through the New Leash on Life training program at Brown Creek Correctional Facility, but still we could not find her a forever home. One day when I opened the door to let her come in from playing, she was limping a little, I was thinking she just overdid it running around. By the next morning she could not get up and we took her to the vet. Easter had slipped a disk and we were told either she would recover after some crate rest and
medication, or she would be paralyzed. Our prayers were answered when she was able to get up and walk a few days later, but the possibility of finding her a forever family pretty much ended that day. Our vet told us that the disc could go out again any time and we would be in the same situation again. So Easter is now a sanctuary dog. She still plays, but we don't let her get too crazy, and she is very happy with her friend Lily the beagle. Easter was found 8 years ago and is approximately 9
years old.

Star's Story
|
This sweet girl came to us in a trash can with her two brothers, Blaze and Bear. Her mom was a stray, almost feral, dog that had the puppies in a family's shed. The people brought us the puppies but were not able to catch the mom. Star had skin issues and allergies from the beginning and we struggled to find a solution to her constant
itching. After years of allergy shots, special diets, every type of 'skin' shampoo imaginable, and lots of Benadryl, we finally have things pretty much under control. Now Star only eats Pedigree canned food with fish oil added, and is supplemented with NuVet. She knows how much we love her and always has a wagging tail and a kiss for us! Star is approximately 13-14 years old.
