Aromatherapy Luminary Tip
Dive Into Spring with Aromatherapy!

Spring gets me in the mood for cleaning and clearing things out - organizing and freshening up my work and living space.
Of course one of the key essential things I grab are my fresh-scented, bacteria busting essential oils!
Overall essential oils have anti-microbial qualities, some more so than others. I also tend to gravitate toward the citrus oils because they have such wonderful uplifting-your-mood qualities and such clean and fresh scents.
Here are some of my favorite essential oils for spring time:
- Orange
- Lemon
- Grapefruit
- Lemongrass
- Tea Tree
- Lavender
- Rosemary
- Cypress
- Geranium
- Juniper
Aromatherapy Luminary Tip:
Here are a few ways to incorporate these essential oils into your day so you can inhale some amazing scents and enjoy the benefits of Aromatherapy!
- Diffusion - Make a blend by combining 2-4 of the essential oils above (and/or some of your own favorite eo's) and put them in a small dropper bottle or bottle with an orifice reducer cap (lets one drop out at a time). Add your blend to a diffuser to scent your atmosphere with spring freshness. (Be sure to follow the directions that came with your diffuser). Here's a blend you can try:
- 15 drops Lemon
- 7 drops Lavender
- 2 drops Rosemary
Mmmmmm....I can smell spring already! :)
2. Mist Your Plants - To a quart of water in a sprayer bottle, add 15 drops of essential oils. Mist your plants so they will be hydrated and soak in the qualities of the essential oils. Just be sure to keep the mixture well diluted by not using more eo's than specified above.
3. Cooling Body Mist - Here's a great blend for your body. Add this blend to an 8 ounce sprayer bottle and fill bottle with distilled or spring water. Shake well and mist your body (avoiding face) for complete hydration and freshness! Can you feel spring coming yet? :) You can also keep this in the refrigerator for those humid days that will soon be upon us.
- 20 drops Lavender
- 10 Cypress
- 5 drops Lemongrass
- 3 drops Juniper
4.
Aromatic Bath and Body Oil - Welcome spring by taking an aromatic bath and then hydrate and soothe your skin by massaging a body oil on your wet skin after your bath. Try it - it feels so good!
Add 9 drops of your blend to an ounce of carrier oil such as sweet almond oil. For the bath, add the oil to warm bath water, swish around and enjoy. For the body oil, apply the blend to your wet skin when you get out of the bath and then pat skin dry with a soft towel. The blend above (#3 above) would be a nice combination of eo's to use for a more detoxifying bath. For a more calming blend, try making a blend with Lavender, Geranium and Grapefruit.
Have fun creating!!
