Note From Gina
Happy Tuesday!
And Happy Spring! It's definitely been a month of April showers here in NJ but I'm looking forward to the warm, sunny weather on the horizon.
It's been a crazy month for me but I've been taking the time needed for myself every day to stay focused and balanced. Have you been taking time for yourself each day? It's so important because if you don't take care of yourself, who will? Plus, how will you care for others if you're stressed and frazzled?
It does take discipline to set time up for yourself on a daily basis. Kind of amazing though to think about why it's so hard to do this! Why is it so hard for us to devote a little time to ourselves? Maybe it's conditioning and our beliefs about taking time out just for us.
I invite you to take 10 minutes every morning to devote to just you - be it meditation, having a cup of tea, or just going for a short walk. Try it and see what a difference it makes in how the rest of your day flows. I have definitely seen and FELT the difference.
Enjoy!

Aromatherapy For Aches and Pains

Lately I've had a few more aches and pains than usual and have been feeling some amazing results with essential oils. There are many essential oils that have properties to help ease sore, fatigued and aching muscles due to over use.
Here are a few:
Lavender, Rosemary, Cypress, Thyme, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Geranium, Grapefruit, Orange, Juniper and Ginger
How to use the essential oils above to ease muscle soreness:
1. Massage/Bath Oil: Use a combination of 2-4 essential oils to make your blend and then add a total of 5-8 drops of this blend to one ounce of base oil such as sweet almond. Once created, use this blend to gently massage your sore muscles. You can also use the oil blend you created in a nice warm bath.
2. Compress: Use the blend you created from above to first massage onto to your aching muscles, then apply a warm compress on top. I find that this combination works best for me. My main area of pain and tightness is my upper back, shoulder and neck area. I first massage this area with my essential oil massage blend and then use a heated neck wrap to put over it. You can also wet a hand towel, squeeze the excess water out and then microwave it for 2 minutes if you don't have a neck wrap.
Remember that you have to know what type of pain you are experiencing to know whether you should use ice or heat so if you're not sure, best to consult your physician.
